In order to promote reading habits in October 2013 the Whale Museum began the activity "Story Time" for children ranging from 4 to 12 years old. This activity takes place every Saturday from 11h to 12h, which includes the reading of a children's story and physical or artistic activities.

To improve this activity three initiatives have been developed from 2014:

1. Mala do Conto – the participants take the Story Suitcase home and write a children's story that will be read on the following week to all children;

2. Baú das Histórias - the participants can leave the books they wish to share on the Story Chest.

3. Special guests - On the first Saturday of each month a special guest will share its own story (profession, hobbies, etc...). We have some guests, such as: writers, musicians, nurses, firemen, as exemplified by Dr. Francisco Fernandes, a writer.
